Civitanova Marche (Macerata), October 3, 2025 – After their Coppa Italia victory over Chiesanuova, Civitanovese are looking for their first league win in Sunday's match. Kick-off is set for 3:30 PM at the Polisportivo, where they face Urbania , a team considered by many to be among the best in the group. However, the Biancorossi are eager to bounce back after their 3-0 defeat at Montefano, aiming to climb a league table that currently boasts five points, including two draws against Tolentino and Matelica, one win against Sangiustese, and the same defeat against Fiorentina.
Looking at Urbania's squad, right-back Sedrick Kalombo, born in 1995, stands out. His resume includes several seasons in Lega Pro with Foggia, Rieti, Rimini, Pro Piacenza, and Gubbio, as well as a Serie B appearance with Salernitana. Another expert is defender Federico Del Compare (born in 1994), who also has a long history in Serie D and even a bit of Lega Pro, albeit at a young age. Gianmarco Conti, a quality midfielder born in 1992, also played in Serie C. His colleague Luigi Sarli, born in 2000, has also played on important pitches. In attack, keep an eye on dangerous winger Christian Triana (born in 1998), an old acquaintance of Sangiustese and Osimana, and striker Alessio Vrioni (born in 2004), who made 30 appearances and scored 9 goals for Maceratese last year. Also in attack are former Sora player Riccardo Fagotti and Luca Fraternali, who arrived from Fossombrone. Both are fresh from Serie D.
On the red and white bench sits the experienced Antonio Ceccarini , a deep connoisseur of the Eccellenza championship, having played there for dozens of seasons at the helm of teams from the Marche region such as Urbino, Jesina, and Atletico Alma. Ceccarini himself, looking ahead to the match, stated: "Whoever makes the fewest mistakes will take home the full prize. Civitanovese is an excellent team, a top-class squad made up of quality and quantity players, and they can aspire to the top spots. In Tolentino, they played an excellent game, especially in the first half. I saw the footage from the match in Chiesanuova: Franco pushed very well down the flank, Pitronaci also seemed dangerous. The central defender pairing, which is not the starting pair (for that occasion it consisted of Romero and Martiarena, ed.), performed very well."
There's another aspect Ceccarini wants to emphasize: "I don't think," says the coach, who also previously played for Maceratese, "that the Rossoblù will feel physically tired for the Coppa Italia round, given that everyone who didn't play in the league has been fielded. We, on the other hand, are more or less recovering everyone and should be fine for Sunday. From this standpoint, the Adriatic side have a longer bench. In any case, we'll come to the sports center to play our game and win it."
The stadium, located just steps from the sea, has already been recently conquered by the red and white coach. At the helm of Urbino in the 2023-24 season, Ceccarini defeated the Riviera side, then led by Sante Alfonsi, in their league opener (1-3). Returning to the match, coach Mercanti will be able to count on almost all of his players at home. The only concerns are related to the fitness of strikers Pompili and Apicella.
