Third term, divided government. FdI ministers against the Lega Nord’s Fugatti: “It’s a problem of power”

The clash in the government between Brothers of Italy and the League over the third mandate continues. "I could say that there was a Fugatti ahead. Gerosa remains my vice president, so we clear the field of misunderstandings. I think that reprisals in politics never bring good luck". Tommaso Foti , Minister for European Affairs, the PNRR and Cohesion Policies, from Trento, on the sidelines of one of the panels of the Festival of Economics, comments on the decision of the president of the Autonomous Province, Maurizio Fugatti , to revoke some councilors and the vice presidency from Francesca Gerosa of Brothers of Italy the day after the government's decision to challenge the provincial law on the third mandate for the governor .
The Melonian Minister of Business and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso also intervened on the political case in Trentino, addressing President Maurizio Fugatti. “I believe that Francesca Gerosa is the victim of political retaliation, and I am sorry that it must never reside in what is the full and loyal collaboration between the orders of the State prescribed by our Constitution and that the government of Giorgia Meloni ensures, always and in any case, to all the Regions and in this case also, to the Autonomous Province of Trento – adds Urso – I cannot understand if the problem of the third mandate concerns the specificities of the Autonomous Province of Trento, or those of the autonomous Regions such as Friuli, or those of one of the ordinary Italian Regions such as Veneto, because each time a different justification is given. Or is it simply the need to maintain power anyway, regardless". Urso also asks that "the agreements signed and consecrated with the voters be respected and that a topic unrelated to the conduct of the provincial government can be used as a blunt weapon against those who represent Brothers of Italy in the Provincial Council". The minister underlines the good relations at the government level with the League and adds "we expected the local authorities led by the League to do the same, if we had behaved as Fugatti did, you understand... we hope, we ask, we demand, that President Fugatti and the League in every context apply the criteria of full and loyal collaboration with the bodies of the state and full collaboration and respect for its allies. Agreement signed before the electoral campaign" which "saw Francesca Gerosa, an expression of Brothers of Italy, as vice president of the council".
Fugatti did not remain silent. "I note that the debate has started and someone says that we can discuss it again immediately, let's do it, let's not wait for the Veneto and Campania elections. It is not written in the Constitution that there must be two mandates. From there comes the political choice, to change the mandates or not. Now someone from the national majority says that we can discuss it again immediately: but let's do it immediately, let's not wait for the Veneto and Campania elections, let's do it first - comments the president of the autonomous province of Trento - For us, the government's challenge, not being founded from a legal point of view, was certainly a surprise, even if in the last few days something leaked out, and therefore it was a political choice, legitimate". Fugatti further underlines: "I note casually that apart from De Luca and Emiliano , the other governors who are forcefully asking for a third mandate are those of the League and the northern regions: a legitimate political fact as the challenge is legitimate politically".
But there is also another Melonian minister who claims that "in Trentino we have gone too far". It is Andrea Abodi , head of Sport, also in Trento at the Festival of Economics: "I respect the autonomies but here we are going a bit too far. The value of collaboration and being together, typical of the Olympic spirit, has definitely disappeared".
