Runoff for mayor in Sant'Elpidio a Mare, challenge between Calcinari and Orsili. Live turnout

Sant'Elpidio a Mare (Fermo), June 8, 2025 – After almost a year of the Municipality being under special administration, after a first round of elections that decreed Gionata Calcinari and Rossano Orsili , the candidates who will compete for the office of mayor in the runoff today – Sunday, June 8 – and tomorrow – Monday, June 9, the citizens of Elpidio will have a new mayor and a new city council. At the same time, the polls are also open for the referendum .
Live turnoutTurnout for the runoff round is scheduled for 12:00, 19:00 and 23:00 on Sunday, June 8. Final turnout data will be available after 15:00 on Monday, June 9.
In the first round, the voter turnout was 55% (8,288 voters out of 15,030), slightly higher than the 53.1% of 2022 (when voting was held in a single day), but that was enough for the candidates to see a, albeit imperceptible, reversal of the electorate's desire to return to the polls. Calcinari arrives at the second round with 3,613 votes equal to 44.8%, while Orsili obtained 2,294 votes equal to 28.4%: a difference of 1,319 votes (equal to 16.4%).
Curiosity: both of the ballot as exponents of the then National Alliance , have served as councilors from 2004 to 2007 in the only center-right government (mayor Giovanni Martinelli) that has ever been remembered in the history of the 'red' Sant'Elpidio a Mare. In 2012 Orsili distanced himself from active politics and is now running again in a civic capacity. Calcinari instead has continued to sit on the benches of the minority, as Fd'I.
Candidates excluded in the first round: no alliancesIn the first round, a good performance for the center-left candidate, Mirco Romanelli with 18.5% (1493 votes) and with the Progetto Democratico list composed of dissidents of the PD that obtained 8.7%. A resounding flop instead for the official PD list (but without a symbol) that sided with Orsili together with FI (also without a symbol) and that did not even reach 5%.
Finally, the civic candidate Enrico Piermartiri, with his two lists, stopped at 8.1% (659 votes). There were no alliances , nor agreements with the two defeated candidates, Piermartiri and Romanelli who did not give any indication of vote leaving their electorate free. There is also curiosity to see how much the referendum will influence the electorate, especially those who boycotted the polls in the first round or voted for the defeated candidates.
When to voteVoting will take place today from 7:00 to 23:00 and tomorrow from 7:00 to 15:00 . When the polls close, the counting will begin, starting with the referendum ballots, and then moving on to the municipal elections.
There are 15 polling stations in total: in the capital, sections 1 to 7 are located at the Bartolucci primary school; sections 8 and 9 at the Piane Tenna school (Luce and Cretarola hamlets); sections 10 to 12, at Casette d'Ete in the middle school; sections 13 to 15 at the Cascinare primary school (also for the hamlets of Bivio Cascinare and Castellano).
