Trump's interventionism in Ukraine is rather irrelevant, Putin is still the biggest obstacle to peace, confusion between the coalition of the willing and the sending of weapons to Kiev. The poll released Monday evening by Enrico Mentana's TgLa7 and elaborated by SWG explores much of the war in Ukraine. No great emotion from the voting trends, calculated with respect to last May 12, while tensions rise within the center-right majority.

For 40% of those interviewed, Italy should participate in the so-called “Coalition of the Willing” , with a majority of voters from the centre-left. For 36%, however, Italy should not be part of the willing, with 51% placed in the centre-right. The percentage of those in favour of sending weapons to Ukraine slips, from 47% in September 2023, to 42% in May 2025.

The contribution of the President of the United States Donald Trump was generally rejected: negative for 31% of those interviewed, 35% neither positive nor negative, roughly positive for 27%. For 48% of Italians, the President of Russia is the main obstacle to peace, only 17% instead accuse the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky , for 24% both to the same extent.

Voting orientations on Italian parties

As for voting orientations , Fratelli d'Italia remains unreachable at 30.3%. Unlike other surveys, in this one in the internal derby within the center-right between Lega and Forza Italia the Carroccio is ahead, even if by a very small margin, 8.4% to 8.3%. After the appeal to the consultation on the third mandate also in Trentino, the tones within the majority are still rising, and it is not certain that tensions cannot increase. Maurizio Lupi's Noi Moderati is stable at the usual 1%.

On the opposition side, the situation is as always rather fragmented. The Democratic Party puts together 22.5%. The 5 Star Movement jumps almost half a percentage point, to 12.4%. The Green and Left Alliance is stable at 6.7%. Followed by Azione, at 3.3%, and Italia Viva, at 2.7%. +Europa is stable at 1.6%. Closing the list are the generic item "other lists" at 2.8% and 32% of those who "do not express themselves", confirming the very high rates of abstentionism at each electoral round.
