“ Today is a historic day . This is one of those cases in which using the word 'historic' does not mean using it inappropriately. This is another fundamental stage in our relations”. Thus Giorgia Meloni in her speech at the Italy-United Arab Emirates Business Forum , at the Hotel Parco dei Principi in Rome. Also present was the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan , whom the Prime Minister met this morning at Palazzo Chigi. Yesterday he was received at the Quirinale for a dinner with the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella and the highest officials of the state.

The forum "is an opportunity to underline how Italy and the United Arab Emirates have together decided to bring their bilateral cooperation to a level never experienced before", he added, underlining the fact that "on this day we have signed over 40 bilateral agreements and our work does not intend to end here" .
Turning to numbers, the United Arab Emirates "have decided to invest 40 billion dollars in our economy ; a demonstration of trust in Italy and its economy". Among the "most significant and impressive foreign investments in the history of our nation" said Meloni, according to whom "it is clearly an extraordinary demonstration of trust and friendship towards Italy, towards its production system, towards its economy".
Concentration on strategic axes, with a long-term perspective and a stable horizon . These are the cornerstones of the collaboration that the Prime Minister intends to develop with the Emirati government: "We want to decline this work on the issues that will be central in the coming years, therefore clearly from the development of artificial intelligence to data centers, from the underwater domain to space research, from renewable energy to rare earths ".
The Mattei Plan for Africa is another great area of common cooperation. “The United Arab Emirates and Sheikh Mohammed were among the first to support this new Italian cooperation strategy with the African continent.” The agreements signed today, Meloni continued, “will allow us to increasingly better and more involve the private sector in this important strategy.”
The relationship between our country and the United Arab Emirates has existed for some time. "Italy is its second European partner" Meloni recalled, "national exports are growing at a steady pace, investments by our companies in the Emirati economy have increased by 50 percent in the last 5 years ." Significant data, demonstrating the fact that "we already find ourselves very comfortable working together, and from today we will do it even better and even more."
“ We have written a splendid and unprecedented page of our common history and I know that we will write many more together,” concluded the Prime Minister, adding that the two countries will work together “in the name of the friendship that binds us but above all in the name of the well-being, the prosperity of our peoples, and in the name of an attempt to lend a hand in a global scenario that clearly needs certainties.”
