Crosetto challenged by ProPal at the Book Fair. Minister: “Freedom, but they should be grateful”

Crosetto challenged by ProPal at the Book Fair. Minister: “Freedom, but they should be grateful”

“Crosetto Crosetto, you go to war”. About twenty Pro Pal activists approached, waving a Palestinian flag, the stand of the Ministry of Defense where Minister Guido Crosetto was expected.

The demonstrators held up a sign saying “stop rearmament” and shouted “300 billion for war and then we cut schools and healthcare” as they staged a protest against the government’s rearmament plan and against the minister.

The group was surrounded by law enforcement and removed from the Oval.

"I think that at the Salone del Libro e della Cultura everyone should be able to speak: there is no one who has the moral authority to decide who stays quiet and who should speak. I had to get here and my parents told me not to pass by the Rai stand because there were pro-Palestine protesters. I passed by because I don't see anything wrong with passing by or demonstrating", comments Minister Crosetto.

and adds: “I accept anything, but they should remember that thanks to the Defense, dozens of Palestinian children have arrived in Italy, just as humanitarian aid continues to arrive.”

Then again on Palestine and Israel: "In this war there is an Italian position that we should be proud of, which is the one that has been without ifs and buts on the side of the Palestinians, of the women, of the men, of the children who have suffered violence that they did not deserve. Because I have always distinguished and will continue to do so between the destiny of Palestine and the role of Hamas which are two different things. And I continue to strongly defend and hope that sooner or later a Palestinian State will be born where millions of Palestinians who deserve it can live in peace"
