ANPI responded to Predappio's nostalgics with an anti-fascist moussaka on October 28th: here's why

Forlì, October 26, 2025 – It's not just anti-fascist pasta anymore. Now there's also moussaka . The proposal comes from the ANPI of Forlì-Cesena , which is responding to the gathering of nostalgics in Predappio by organizing a Greek dinner.
"I keep thinking," explains local ANPI president Miro Gori , "that if someone calls 'us,' in Predappio, on the anniversary of the March on Rome... what is that? To me, that's fascism... but that's my personal position, and I'm not a lawyer." And so, "we'll respond on October 28th, next Tuesday, with an anti-fascist moussaka in Predappio."
The choice of day is not accidental, given that the "ill-fated aggressive enterprise" of Benito Mussolini 's regime in Greece was launched on October 28, 1940. "We will be in Predappio on the 28th, the anniversary of the March on Rome and also of the liberation of Predappio itself in 1944, when the Allies and partisans symbolically drove Mussolini from his land," continues Gori, "the Greek ANPI will also be with us."
The procession in Predappio in memory of the March on RomeThe ANPI initiative comes on the day seven hundred Blackshirts (according to the Police Headquarters, a thousand according to the organizers) participated in the march marking the 103rd anniversary of the March on Rome in Predappio, the town where Benito Mussolini was born and is buried. Roberto Fiore, the national secretary of Forza Nuova, was also present that morning. A group of participants also gave the Roman salute.
Democratic MP Andrea De Maria
Democratic Party MP Andrea De Maria also weighed in on the issue. "This year, too, in Predappio we witnessed a demonstration glorifying the March on Rome, complete with Roman salutes," the MP explained in a statement. "These scenes are outrageous and saddening. Our democracy was born from anti-fascism, thanks to the extremely high price paid in blood by the Italian people to defeat Mussolini's dictatorship. In Italy, apologia for fascism is a crime , precisely because fascism represented the violent oppression of freedom and democracy. Demonstrations like this must be opposed by all political forces."
Moussaka: a traditional dishJust a quick tip: what exactly do we mean when we talk about moussaka? It's a traditional Greek dish made with eggplant, béchamel sauce, and sometimes potatoes or zucchini. Every family has a slightly different recipe for this specialty, which resembles our lasagna.
