"We can't make mistakes on Ukraine". The secret lunch Meloni-Salvini-Tajani

The case
The Prime Minister and her deputies will meet on Friday to agree on the moves between Volenterosi and Putin
It's a ritual, by now. Except that Friday's was a geopolitically important lunch. Giorgia Meloni, Matteo Salvini and Antonio Tajani, after participating in the commemoration for the victims of terrorism in the Chamber, sat down to dinner at Palazzo Chigi. On the menu was the Prime Minister's decision, agreed and shared with the Foreign Minister, not to participate in the "Volenterosi" mission to Kyiv scheduled for the following day. A missed photo with the other European leaders, the subject of criticism from the opposition, which Tajani downplayed and almost even defended in an interview. In a game of mirrors, and to avoid mechanisms already seen, Meloni seems to have reiterated to Salvini Italy's position alongside Ukraine to reach "a just and lasting peace" expressing several doubts about Putin's wishes. The “lunch diplomacy” at Palazzo Chigi is the ploy used by the Prime Minister to tone down the constant distinctions between the two deputy prime ministers, who until recently were in constant dialectical controversy with each other, to the detriment of the image of the coalition. It seems that the formula works, until proven otherwise, of course. As for the regional elections, the three leaders have made an appointment to tighten the grip on candidacies after the administrative elections in June.
