Newspapers plummet in one year, Travaglio grows amid many disasters: Repubblica suffers, another 5 big ones fall... Who rises (two) and who collapses (almost all) - Ads data

All down. Actually, almost all. This month, the top 10 newspapers (again) only saw Il Fatto Quotidiano, directed by Marco Travaglio, grow year-over-year— May 2025 (estimated) compared to the same month in 2024 (accounting)—according to ADS data (print + digital) . The others are declining—more or less markedly: five dailies are reporting a negative trend of more than 5%.
A very similar situation emerges when scrolling through the top 20 positions, where only Il Mattino shows a (nice) growth rate.
Newspaper trends year-over-year: May 2025 (estimated) vs. May 2024 (accounted)Corriere della Sera is undoubtedly in first place in sales according to Ads data, even if in the last 12 months it has gone from 230,524 to 220,075 (-4.53%).
Second place is still 'made by RCS' with La Gazzetta dello Sport close to parity in the month of the Napoli-Inter Scudetto sprint which led to the Champions League final (with PSG's 5-0 victory over the Nerazzurri): 145,410 in May 2025 against 146,930 a year ago (-1.03%).
La Repubblica is on the third step of the podium (overtaken by the Rosea in the last year), but falls by 7.97% to 136,826 (there were 148,682).
Sole 24 Ore, as always, is fourth in the special ranking: 118,301 in the latest data against 122,931 the previous year (-3.85%)
Avvenire closes the top 5 remaining above 100 thousand (100,031) compared to 104,041 in 2024 (-3.85%)
La Stampa dropped by 6.08% in May 2025 compared to May 2024: 73,205 against 77,945.
A similar trend for Il Messaggero (-6.22%) which follows in seventh place with 58,222 against 62,082.
Eighth with a plus sign, as mentioned, is Il Fatto Quotidiano : for Marco Travaglio and his team the growth is 3.75% going from 52,375 to 54,341.
Qn - Il Resto del Carlino has been overtaken in the last year, dropping to ninth place: 57,159 in May 2024, now 53,222 (-6.89%).
In tenth place is Il Gazzettino , which dropped 5.80% to 41,322 from 43,865.

- Qn La Nazione at 33,281 with -10.40%
- Il Mattino accelerates and scores in the month of Antonio Conte's Napoli, who win a thrilling Scudetto: +16.13% and +4 thousand copies at 28,424.
