St, the mobilization continues. New strike on July 15: "The industrial plan must be withdrawn"

Agrate, according to the unions, the redundancies in the next three years will reach 1,500. A picket in front of the Prefecture is also planned: the government has not yet summoned us.
Agrate (Monza and Brianza) – The questions in Parliament, the motion in the Region, the pressure from the Municipalities and now the second strike already set: July 15. Workers and unions are once again saying no to the industrial plan of St "and to the redundancies that in Agrate in the next three years will reach 1,500", explain Fim, Fiom, Uilm, Usb and Fismic . This time there will be a picket in front of the Prefecture "to underline that despite our requests, the government has not yet summoned us", explains Pietro Occhiuto, secretary of Fiom-Cgil Brianza. At the heart of the protest, "the future of the Brianza hub, of the staff, of the Lombard and Italian industry" repeat the acronyms that have been pushing for months for a change of direction on the prospects of the "redesign of the manufacturing base", the operation so baptized by the management, after the crisis in the automotive market and accounts below expectations. For weeks, metalworkers have been denouncing "the relocation of machinery and technology to other sites, the progressive emptying of Via Olivetti", denied by the multinational semiconductor company which instead speaks of "normal routine operations".
The RSU also shines a spotlight on "dozens of voluntary resignations and as many transfers of personnel from Agrate to Catania" and recalls that "despite the plant being full, this summer in Brianza 97 workers with fixed-term contracts will lose their jobs". The Ministry of Made in Italy and the Region are waiting for the review of the plan that made Adolfo Urso say that he was confident of closing "a comprehensive agreement by the summer on the St dispute", "but the company has not changed anything - Occhiuto recalls -, beyond the declarations, the facts say otherwise". Hence, the new protest after the strike of May 21, "with massive participation, over 80%". 5,300 people work in Agrate, and the entire political spectrum has mobilized to defend them with various initiatives. The Province also expressed itself unanimously "against the plan" and asked for a substantial change "to confirm the employment levels and the strategic centrality of the Agrate hub. A role recognized to the factory also at an international level. Capable of generating a one-to-one induced effect. In the area, another 5,300 people depend on the chip giant".
