Molluscs, the Veneto Region takes action to address the Cam crisis

A long-standing crisis that is worsening and leaving 50 people without wages, at a time when demand for the product is certainly not lacking.
"Next week, I will convene a new meeting of the regional crisis committee for early September, with the aim of developing shared solutions to reduce the impact on workers and ensure business continuity."
Veneto's Labor Councilor, Valeria Mantovan, announced that the Region is monitoring the situation of CAM (Conservificio Allevatori Molluschi) and its subsidiary CAM Evolution: "A historic regional company that for decades has been synonymous with excellence at the national and European level. The crisis that has occurred in recent years has been exacerbated by the pandemic emergency and has led the company to enter into a preventive bankruptcy procedure in 2020. Since then, the difficulties have not ended; the blue crab crisis itself has worsened the situation."
On July 25, the first meeting between the Regional Corporate Crisis Unit, the company, and the trade unions Flai Cgil, Fai Cisl, and Uila Uil took place. A discussion that highlighted various complexities: "Due to their impact, the most serious difficulties appear to be financial, as they have immediately led to delays in salary payments for the 50 workers currently employed by Cam and its subsidiary. Regarding these critical issues, during the same meeting, we defined several possible solutions and tools with the company and trade union partners, including public ones such as social safety nets and active labor market policies, which we, as a Region, immediately made available. These solutions are currently being explored by the company and its consultants and are subject to discussion with the judicial commissioner of the composition agreement currently underway."
