Fincantieri, 700 million order from the Navy

Fincantieri strengthens its strategic role in the Italian Navy's fleet renewal program with a new contract for the construction of two PPA - Multipurpose Combat Ship units, which will replace those sold to the Indonesian Navy.
The value is approximately 700 million euros. The two new units will be built in the Integrated Shipyard of Riva Trigoso and Muggiano; deliveries are scheduled for 2029 and 2030 respectively.
For Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and General Manager of Fincantieri, "the new units strengthen the national supply chain, ensuring production continuity and employment stability and contribute to consolidating Italy's role as a central player in the global geopolitical defense scenario, where shipbuilding is increasingly a key element of international influence and cooperation".
The two ships are highly flexible and can perform tasks such as patrol, sea rescue, Civil Protection operations, and front-line combat. They are 143 meters long and can reach speeds of over 31 knots; they carry 171 crew members.
Following the announcement of the contract, Fincantieri shares gained 6.2% on the Milan stock exchange.
