200 Euro Utility Bill Bonus: How to Request It and Who is Eligible

Starting in July 2025, many Italian families will be able to benefit from an extraordinary bonus of 200 euros to reduce expenses related to electricity, gas and water bills . Here's how it works, who is entitled to it and what are the requirements to access this important benefit.

Bonus bills and energy price increases: last days to switch to Gradual Protections

The main concern on the energy front is the possible increase in bills, linked to the conflict in the Middle East that could hinder the oil trade. The 200 euro bonus is part of the Bollette decree, which provides aid for vulnerable families and businesses.

Until June 30 , vulnerable users can switch to the Gradual Protection Service for electricity, with an estimated average saving of 113 euros per year. However, according to Assoutenti, only 3 million of the 11.8 million vulnerable users are still in the greater protection regime, while over 8 million have already switched to the free market. For this reason, Assoutenti has asked the government for an extraordinary extension of the deadline, proposing March 2027 as the new deadline.

The 200 euro utility bill bonus is intended for families with an ISEE between 9,530 and 25,000 euros . For those who already benefit from the social bonus, the payment will be automatic, with the first credits expected starting from July 2025. For all others, however, the discount will be recognized within three months of submitting the Single Substitutive Declaration (DSU), necessary for calculating the ISEE.

The measure is funded with an allocation of 1.65 billion euros , but it is possible that the available funds will not be sufficient to cover all requests. This is because, compared to the initial forecasts, the number of potential beneficiaries has increased following the new rules introduced in 2025. In particular, Italian government bonds and postal savings certificates up to 50,000 euros will no longer be considered in the calculation of the ISEE, a change that could broaden the group of eligible families, including those who were previously excluded for exceeding the threshold.

INPS will periodically transmit updated data to the Energy Services Manager (GSE), which will send the list of beneficiaries to energy operators. At the moment it is not yet clear how the possible situation of early exhaustion of the allocated resources will be managed.

Discount on bill only with new ISEE: here's what those who submit late risk

For those who do not fall under the automatic procedure, it will be necessary to request a new ISEE to be able to access the bonus. Energy suppliers will be required to apply the discount within three months of verifying the document and will have to report the credit directly on the bill.

Possible delays cannot be ruled out, especially for those who submit the DSU late or find themselves facing technical difficulties.
