The Sorrento Peninsula Award celebrates 30 years: a ceremony with Violante Placido. Insinna wins.

With the wind in our sails—the motto engraved on a plaque beneath the mainmast of the Italian Navy training ship "Palinuro," where the press presentation took place—the thirtieth anniversary of the Sorrento Peninsula Award has concluded. A significant anniversary in the regional cultural landscape was thus celebrated with full sail. Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony with Violante Placido, patroness of the spin-off "Mezzogiorno e Mediterraneo," the "Thirty Years Together" celebratory evening, media partner Rai Cinema Channel, took place on Saturday, October 25th, with the presentation of awards for culture, cinema, and audiovisual media. This year's honorees included Stefano Dionisi, Simona Cavallari, Danny Quinn (International Award), and Franco Simone (who previously won the Golden Globe for his score to John Real's film "Native") for his lifetime achievement award. The special thirtieth anniversary award was presented to Flavio Insinna, the true star of the thirtieth anniversary and the protagonist of the play "Gente di facile costumi," directed by Luca Manfredi. Actor Francesco Branchetti and jazz pianist Danilo Rea also took part in the activities of the Award's artistic and cultural board.
Born in 1996 as a poetry competition based on an idea by Arturo Esposito, the Award—under the artistic direction of Mario Esposito—has now become one of Italy's leading awards for cinema and audiovisual production, part of the promotion plan of the Campania Region Film Commission and sponsored by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
