Prevention at the table: the new book by Lilt presented at Ferraioli in Naples

A recipe book inspired by the principles of healthy eating? No, “A Tavola con la Lilt… a Scuola di prevenzione” is “the story of an educational experience in food education that involved students in a significant training course aimed at developing knowledge, skills and abilities to promote and encourage sustainable food choices and develop healthy lifestyle habits, improve the quality of life and help prevent diseases, primarily oncological ones”. Antonella Venezia , nutritionist at Lilt in Naples, explains this, as she curated the publication presented at the “A. Esposito Ferraioli” institute: about sixty pages that summarize the theoretical and practical activity carried out within the project of the same name “A Tavola con la Lilt”, which the voluntary oncology organization, led by Professor Adolfo Gallipoli D'Errico , has developed, together with the Neapolitan hotel institute, from 2015 to today. Complete menus inspired by the different seasons, the short supply chain, sustainability, the limited and occasional use of high-energy ingredients, in a word, inspired by healthy eating, given that – as Professor Gallipoli D'Errico recalled – "at least 35 percent of oncological pathologies are directly or indirectly attributable to bad eating habits".
The importance of correct training courses in the field of food and wine disciplines was addressed by the school principal, Rita Pagano, who wanted to thank not only the Lilt of Naples "but all those who in these ten years have made these training opportunities possible that have had an echo throughout the entire school community, in the territory: the teachers of the various disciplines involved, the technical and ATA staff and, above all, the kids who have enthusiastically embraced the project by creating - under the guidance of expert teachers - refined dishes, well presented during engaging show cooking".
We remember the figure of Professor Sandra Molinaro , who passed away prematurely, who, together with Professor Maria Paola Sasso of the Institute's Health Department, coordinated the project throughout these years.
Appreciation for the initiative was expressed by the regional councilor for training Armida Filippelli , who underlined the role that the Region plays alongside the professional institutes of Campania, and by the president of the Municipality 4 of the Municipality of Naples Maria Caniglia who spent words of enthusiastic appreciation for the initiative.
Finally, Michele Apuzzo , president of the Crai Mediterranea – Tuttigiorni chain, which supported the publishing project, spoke about the willingness to usefully start training courses with the Ferraioli students.
