BARI - The "most sincere thanks" for the welcome that Bari dedicated to the Berliner Philharmoniker on the occasion of the May 1st concert conducted by Riccardo Muti. The German ambassador to Rome, Hans-Dieter Lucas, a guest at the concert at the Petruzzelli together with his wife, conveyed them to the mayor Vito Leccese. The concert in Bari, "which is part of the prestigious tradition of the Europakonzert, with which the Berliner Philharmoniker perform every year in a place of particular cultural significance, was an extraordinary opportunity to celebrate European culture", writes the ambassador. Adding that the choice of Bari "highlighted the importance of the city as a cultural center not only for Italy, but for all of Europe".
"My wife and I - the letter continues - were struck by the beauty and hospitality that Bari offered to this event of international importance, a tangible sign of how the city represents an ideal crossroads for culture and music". In the days of controversy over the movida, the German ambassador emphasized the welcoming characteristics of the city. "Bari has demonstrated, once again, that it is a city that knows how to combine tradition with innovation, hosting events that unite people and promote culture as a tool for dialogue and growth. I am certain that this experience will further contribute to strengthening the bond between Bari and the main German and European cultural institutions".
