'The Value of Witnessing': Andy Rocchelli's photographs on display in Milan

From 18 to 26 September, at the Press Club, photographs taken by the reporter in Ukraine before he was assassinated and explanatory panels that tell the events experienced first-hand by the journalist

Andy Rocchelli's shots taken in Donbass, Ukraine, shortly before the photojournalist was assassinated in 2014. The photographic exhibition, titled 'The Value of Testimony', is organized by the Lombardy Journalists Association, the Order of Journalists of Lombardy, the Human Rights Foundation and the Cesura Collective, at the Spazio Circolo della Stampa, from 18 to 26 September .

The exhibition, which features 24 photographs from the fieldwork, plus four explanatory panels recounting Rocchelli's story and personal experiences, will be introduced by a meeting on September 18th at 5:00 PM at the Spazio Circolo della Stampa. The meeting will feature the slain photojournalist's parents, Elisa Signori and Rino Rocchelli; Mario Calabresi, journalist, founder and director of Choramedia; Danilo De Biasio, journalist and director of the Human Rights Foundation and Festival; Giuseppe Giulietti, journalist and former president of the Fnsi; Riccardo Sorrentino, President of the OdglL; and Paolo Perucchini, journalist and President of the ALG. At 6:00 PM, the exhibition, created with the support and patronage of the National Order of Journalists and with the contributions of the associations Amici di Roberto Morrione, Articolo 21, and Libera, will be inaugurated.

The exhibition unfolds through a photographic narrative of a war that encompasses other conflicts raging around the world . "The value of testimony," as the title suggests, thus becomes a fundamental aspect of international communication, touching on various aspects: from journalistic work in the field to the risks reporters face daily, through the need to report what is happening while fully respecting the right/duty to report.
