Nardi, revenge on Fucsovics in Dubai: for the Italian in the eighth finals there is Bergs

Luca Nardi took his revenge. The Italian tennis player, who two days ago was defeated by Marton Fucsovics in the last qualifying round, was fished out as a lucky loser and in his debut in the main draw of the Dubai tournament he found himself once again facing him: Marton Fucsovics. The outcome, however, was different this time. Nardi won with a super comeback: the score read 1-6 6-2 6-3 in two hours and twelve minutes of play. The world number 79, who recovered from a match that started badly in the first set, will face Zizou Bergs (winner against Aziz Dougaz with a double 6-3) in the second round of the ATP 500.
Luca is a dull one when he takes to the court in Dubai. Without a first serve, Nardi struggles to give power to his shots and to control the exchange, finds a double fault and goes down 30-40 in the first game of the match. Fucsovics, on the other hand, responds well and immediately takes the break. The Italian does not find winners, collects unforced errors and in the sixth game gives away other break points to his opponent. He saves three, but his serve gives way again at deuce and Fucsovics takes advantage to ask for the first set on serve: a clear 6-1. The second, on the other hand, is a different story. At 3-2, Nardi manages to earn the first break points of the match: at 30-40, a backhand error by the Hungarian and the tennis player from Pesaro takes the lead. Fucsovics makes many mistakes, Luca manages to be more aggressive with his forehand and closes with a final 6-2. In the decisive set there is tiredness and little precision in increasingly long exchanges. There is a break and counter-break at the beginning and a balance that is difficult to overturn. At 4-3, however, a double fault condemns Fucsovics to the final break. Called to serve for the match, Nardi struggles but achieves the objective: playing the second round of the Dubai tournament.
