Barchi ATM robbery: robbers escape with loot

A burglary at the Barchi Credit Agricole ATM on Via Roma (photo) occurred on the night between Thursday and Friday. A sudden explosion woke the town center and attracted the attention of several witnesses who had just returned home at that time (around 3:00 a.m.). Their testimony could prove very useful in trying to identify those responsible. Four individuals, all hooded, acted with skill, stealing a loot that is difficult to quantify—a few thousand euros, perhaps more than 40,000. Law enforcement will receive an exact estimate only tomorrow. Meanwhile, what seems certain is that the criminals used acetylene : gas is introduced into the device via a cannula and then, using a remote electronic trigger, an explosion is triggered. This was accomplished after having breached the premises. In this way, immediately after the explosion, they can grab the cash boxes, usually two: one for the 20 euro note and one for the 50 euro note. Then the sudden escape, which took place, according to initial rumours, aboard a grey Volkswagen Golf.

Carabinieri patrols from Terre Roveresche , Fano, and Pesaro are currently conducting investigations, carefully examining license plate reading devices scattered along the access roads to the municipalities of Terre Roveresche. As mentioned, the accounts of eyewitnesses who, having recently returned home, heard the explosion and followed the crucial phases of the attack from their windows may prove useful.
