A car crashes into a pole during a police chase in Bologna, killing an 18-year-old.

A road accident occurred at 5 a.m. this morning on Via Murri in Bologna . Initial reports suggest a vehicle, during a police chase, crashed into a lamppost and other parked vehicles, disintegrating.
An 18-year-old man of Albanian origin died in the crash.
Another 19-year-old Italian man, who was also injured, was also in the car, which turned out to be stolen. The accident occurred near the intersection with Via dei Lamponi.
According to initial reports, the two young men in the car— an Audi —fled the scene, failing to stop for a patrol car check. The car they were traveling in was found to be stolen and was spotted by officers on Via Tolmino .
The patrol car crew approached to check the car while it was stopped at a red light, but as soon as the light turned green, the two men sped off. A chase ensued that lasted several minutes on Via Andrea . Given the high speed, the patrol car lost them and, continuing down the road, found the car crashed into a pole.
The patrol car and the two young men's car never came into contact , nor did the officers witness the crash. The two young men were immediately assisted; the 19-year-old driver, with no criminal record, was found to be almost unharmed and not seriously injured, as initially reported. Unfortunately, the 18-year-old passenger died instantly. The young man had previous convictions for theft and resisting arrest.
Caught driving with a cell phone in his hand , he didn't stop at a checkpoint and during the chase, he got rid of a package of drugs . It happened in the Via Dante area of Palermo , where a municipal police patrol ordered a young man in a car to stop because he was caught driving while using his cell phone.
The driver, however, fled, causing panic among motorists and pedestrians. The chase, which continued for several minutes, ended in Piazza Virgilio , where the 24-year-old from Palermo, with a minor criminal record , was identified and taken to the Via La Malfa Police Station under arrest for resisting a public officer.
During his escape, the young man had also attempted to dispose of a stash of drugs, which was recovered by a Carabinieri dog unit patrol that responded to the scene. The arrest was validated by the investigating judge.
