Southwest Airlines Appoints New Independent Chairman in Latest Board Shakeup

Southwest had already appointed five new directors as part of its settlement with Elliott last year.

Southwest Airlines said Thursday that it will appoint Doug Brooks to be the new independent chairman of its board of directors.

The appointment marks another board shakeup for Southwest, which had already appointed five new directors to its board in October as part of its settlement with activist investor Elliott Investment Management.
