You have to feel for the fans with tickets for the session - even if they were treated to a nice exhibition.

The pair are back in action again today. In fact, all eight players are in action now as we reach the quarter final stage.

They've all pocketed £50,000 getting here but there'll only be one taking home the £500,000 winner's jackpot next Monday!

  • A fantastic day of snooker ahead - we simply can't wait!

  • Ronnie O'Sullivan says his game is 'guesswork' and 'hell' at the moment as he continues to battle with his confidence.

After his win last night, the Rocket told the BBC: “I feel so unconfident.

“It’s like, horrible. It’s horrible even when you’re playing alright.

“I got messed up by a coach and I am just trying to unravel it but I just don’t think I can.”

“I hit a safety shot there in that frame and caught it so thick.

“I can’t even see where I’m hitting it, it’s just guesswork.

“Then I try it again and a different shot comes off. In the balls I was alright but there’s so many parts to the game.

    “It’s hell to be honest."

  • Excellent Judd Trump was proclaimed as the champion-elect by vanquished Shaun Murphy, who said: You might as well give him the trophy NOW!

Murphy, the reigning Masters champion, gushed: “If he’s able to sustain that level of performance, he’ll win the tournament, without question.

“If I were allowed to bet on snooker matches, I’d have as much as I possibly could on Judd Trump.

“If he sustains that, you should give him the trophy now. As it stands, we should probably save ourselves the next seven days’ trouble and give it to Judd.

“No-one in the tournament is playing that well across all facets of the game. He’s showing why he’s world no.1. I think its his time for a second world title.

“He’s the strongest player on the tour. Other players get more headlines but he’s the best player."

  • Jet-setting Luca Brecel has thanked Leandro Trossard for giving him advice on the top continental private plane firm to book.

The Belgian Bullet, 30, is close pals with the Arsenal winger, also 30, and will be rooting for him tomorrow night in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain.

Brecel explained his madcap actions, saying: "I don’t like to hang around too long.

"I always try to get here as late as possible. Even today, I came here 15 minutes before the game.

"That has always been my way. As long as it works, it’s good.

"I just booked it the day before. Obviously, I know Trossard from Arsenal. He arranged it for me.

"That was quite easy. He gave me the number and I fixed it. I’m not going to say the price."

  • If you're just tuning in to find out tonight's scores, then you've missed some excellent action.

In truth, the action for the evening was done and wrapped up by 7.27pm.

Ronnie O'Sullivan and Luca Brecel needed one frame to win their matches against Pang Junxu and Ding Junhui.

And it was Brecel who came through his match quicker, with Ronnie following a few minutes later with both needing just one frame.

  • Asked if he needs to win another World Championship to secure his legacy, Trump added: “I've probably got 14-15 good chances left to win another one.

"It's difficult because I'm always going to be judged now, whereas every other player is 49-50 years old. I do have 15 years to win it again.

“I'd be disappointed in myself if I never won it again, but it wouldn't be the end of the world.”

  • Interesting one this.

Judd Trump has taken a pop at "older commentators" for their underappreciating of him.

He said: “Maybe, but I'm not that bothered, I can just put them on mute!

“Shaun, for example, will be out there playing against me and he's commentating at the same time, so he can probably understand the level, I think maybe some of the other, older commentators can't see that anymore.

“I think I'm appreciated among my peers. Some of the other people are maybe not quite as with the game as they used to be.

“It doesn't make a difference to me. I think that anyone who knows anything about the game that's currently playing can appreciate the level that I'm playing at. "

  • Referee, Tatiana Woollaston posted of her pride at husband Ben's performance before he was knocked out earlier today.

This after coming through a tough first round against Mark Selby.

She posted a picture of the pair while also mentioning her excitement at officiating the Higgo vs Willo contest.

  • Here's what we have to look forward to tomorrow.

    That included scores of 141, 137, 134, 132, 128, 127, 122, 116, 112, 108, 103, 100

  • The Welsh legend is clearly looking forward to playing his good mate tomorrow.

He posted a selfie of the pair in the Crucible this morning and a throwback pi to their junior days.

He posted on X earlier saying: "Just getting ready for the world seniors quarter finals in the morning #heusedtobetallerthanme"

  • Only for answer as far as Williams in concerned.

He added: “The one here I can remember the most is the world final.

"It was one of the best games I’ve been involved in and a lot of people say it’s the best final ever.

“I’ve given him a bad defeat in the final and a bad defeat in a semi, but I’ve had plenty of hammerings off him as well in the past.”

  • The first time potting foes Mark Williams and John Higgins met across a snooker table, 35 years ago, there was £8,000 on the line.

This time, the pair are battling to win the £500,000 jackpot on Bank Holiday Monday and become the sport’s oldest world champion.

With a combined age of 99, two members of the Class of 92 meet Tuesday and Wednesday for three sessions of the quarter-finals.

Williams said: “It will be a fabulous occasion for our age and where we are in our careers.

“I can remember the first time we met. The first one was the World Masters in 1990.

“In the final he beat me 6-1 and he had £5,000 the winner and I had £3,000 the runner-up.

“A week later we played in the British under-16s in Birmingham, I thrashed him 4-0 in about 50 minutes and I got about £200!

“That was the first time I really remember John.

“Me and Ronnie O’Sullivan were playing in all the junior events. Me and Ronnie were all around the country at 13, 14, 15, and John came about a bit later."

  • A Big Break-style exhibition is being staged just now for the punters buying tickets for one frame in the end.

Fans attending this evening will not be eligible for a ticket refund.

Ken Doherty, the 1997 world champion, the popular Jimmy White and Dennis Taylor – on the 40th anniversary of his 1985 Black Ball Final success – are at the arena for trick shots and frame play, hosted by Rob Walker.

The trio have a combined age of 193 and are on site in Sheffield due to broadcaster duties.

John Virgo, who co-fronted the BBC show Big Break between 1991 and 2002, might also be part of the activity.

  • Actually, this would be pretty helpful, particularly when looking as those outright odds.

Here's who plays who in the next round...

    • Zhao Xintong or Chris Wakelin vs Ronnie O'Sullivan or Si Jiahui
    • John Higgins or Mark Williams vs Luca Brecel or Judd Trump
  • The betting still makes this a bit of a two-horse race.

But if Ronnie's confidence is as bad as he says it is, might the value be elsewhere.

    • Judd Trump 13/8
    • Ronnie O'Sullivan 5/2
    • Zhao Xintong 6/1
    • Luca Brecel 8/1
    • John Higgins 11/1
    • Mark Williams 20/1
    • Chris Wakelin 25/1
    • Si Jiahui 25/1
  • It's quite the line-up. Not many will have seen this final eight coming.

    • Zhao Xintong vs Chris Wakelin
    • Ronnie O'Sullivan vs Si Jiahui
    • John Higgins vs Mark Williams
    • Luca Brecel vs Judd Trump
