The new Lougratte Aquapark: for the enjoyment of young and old

The only requirements for this sporting activity: wearing the provided life jacket and knowing how to swim. Children aged 6 to 8 must be accompanied by an adult. The site is video-protected, and two lifeguards ensure the safety of the maximum 80 people allowed on the inflatables. This "guarantees peace of mind for families," says Jean-Noël Ruaud, who reminds each player of the rules. However, a 15-year-old boy injured his knee on opening day. An "incomprehensible" situation for the site manager, "who has never needed to call the fire department" since his first season on the lake in 2023. A first aid station is set up to handle minor injuries.
Recruiting lifeguards hasn't been easy. The sector is under pressure during the summer season, so Aquaparc is still looking for its second lifeguard for August. In total, the purchase and installation of this inflatable water playground cost the company around €70,000, and they hope to recoup their costs thanks to good weather. Last year, more than 5,000 people enjoyed the site from July to August.
