Women's Volleyball World Cup: Iman Ndiaye, the "Made in USA" point guard who carries the hopes of the French team

A year ago, Iman Ndiaye was virtually invisible. But in just a few months, the 23-year-old has established herself as one of the leading prospects in French volleyball. The point guard, whose role is to finish plays with her smashes, finished as the top scorer in the Nations League (from June 4 to July 27), a tournament that brings together 18 teams from around the world every summer. With an average of 21 points per match, she impressed all the experts.
On the eve of the World Championships, held from August 22 to September 7 in Thailand, Imam Ndiaye even appears to be a major asset for Les Bleues, whose objective is to get out of Group C, which includes Puerto Rico, Greece and Brazil – the second nation in the world rankings.
A substitute for her club Chamalières (Puy-de-Dôme) during the 2023-2024 season, at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and at her current club Ankara, Iman Ndiaye took advantage of the Nations League to reveal herself. "She was the big surprise of the competition ," observes the Spaniard Cesar Hernandez Gonzalez, who succeeded, in December 2024, the Belgian Emile Rousseaux at the head of the national team. Everyone is talking about her, and not just in France. She is a winner. She is powerful, young and ambitious. If she works hard, she will become one of the references in volleyball."
