Triathlon: La Rochelle on the road to remaining in Men's Division 1

The Rochelais are still in the French Top 10 with two rounds remaining in D1, while the women, 4th in D2, will have to shine in the final to reach the elite.
La Rochelle Triathlon took a consolidating step towards remaining in Division 1 of the French Men's Club Championship on Saturday, September 6 in Quiberon (Morbihan). Ninth before the Breton round, President Luc Delagarde's protégés maintained their position with an 11th-place finish. La Rochelle owes this ranking to the performances of Hungarian Gergo Dobi, 20th, Irishman James Edgar, 36th, and another Hungarian, Zalan Hobor, 37th in the sprint format (750m swim, 20km bike ride, and 5km run).
This international trio puts La Rochelle in a comfortable position before the penultimate round in La Baule on September 20 and the final in Cabourg on the 27th. Nothing is certain, but a step has been taken, with an interesting lead over the last three teams who will be relegated to D2 at the end of the season.
The Rochelaises at the foot of the podiumFaced with some absolutely incredible competition – to give an idea of the level, Pierre Le Corre (Les Sables-d'Olonne), 4th at the Paris Olympics, finished in 5th place – the other Rochelais competing in Brittany finished further back: Pao Millo is 49th, and Rémi Delagarde, who will be in Royan on Saturday, is ranked 71st.
In the women's category, the Rochelaises took 4th place, enough to remain in... 4th place in the provisional general classification, still behind La Grande-Motte. After the Cabourg final, only the podium will advance to D1. The Maritimes therefore know that they will have to beat the Héraultaises to the post to secure promotion that would allow their club to have four teams in D1 in 2026 (triathlon and duathlon combined).
In Quiberon, Belgian Katrien Maes, 4th, Juliette Delagarde, an excellent 9th, and Audrey Angibaud, 22nd, did their best and finished just behind La Grande-Motte. Three points now separate the two teams. On September 27, in Cabourg, the stakes will be very clear for the Rochelaises who will want to join the club's men, who are well on their way to another lease in the elite.
