Wednesday, 4:30 p.m. I arrive at the Baignade des Chevaux, the new headquarters of the local pétanque team. The sun beats down hard on the brand-new court, and the boules are already shining on the ground. I advance timidly, as if nothing had happened... and I try my luck: "There's a way to slip in..."
