The E1 Series Electric Boat World Championship will return this summer in Monaco

Already the cradle of motorsport and the capital of yachting, Monaco will once again host a round of the electric boat world championship. An event created by the leaders of the E1 Series and those of the International Motorboat Union (UIM) in 2024. Presented by the PIF, the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, it is the world's first all-electric racing boat championship . After a first stopover in 2024 in the Principality, the competition will drop anchor again next July for two particularly electrifying days.

Qualifying will take place on Friday, July 18, followed by the race day on Saturday, July 19. Each team—composed of one male and one female driver—is endorsed by celebrities such as Didier Drogba, Rafael Nadal, and Will Smith. In the first edition, the team of Tom Brady, the legendary former American football player, won the championship and the Monaco leg. Lisa Caussin Battaglia of Monaco, a member of former Indian cricketer Virat Kohli's Team Blue Rising, finished seventh overall out of nine participants.

Unfortunately, the darling of the Monegasque public was not selected during the formation of the teams for this 2025 edition.

The Monegasque influence is still very present in the development of this competition, with a partnership signed last October with the Yacht Club of Monaco. The latter now serves as an ultra-modern base for future pilots of the nautical event thanks to the premises of its training center. It was at the Yacht Club that the creation of this young discipline and its first trials were officially announced.

"Monaco is Monaco. As an athlete, it's a dream to compete in such a city. We all have the Formula 1 Grand Prix in mind. In addition, the Monaco leg comes right in the middle of the season, so there will be a fierce battle for the overall victory. It will be a race with a lot at stake, that's for sure," rejoices Tom Chiappe, the Frenchman competing in Rafael Nadal's Team.

The E1 Monaco 2025 race will be the fifth round of the season, after Jeddah, Doha, Dubrovnik and Lago Maggiore, in this championship which includes seven races in iconic coastal destinations. "Each race has a different layout. Monaco is one of the only outdoor courses, directly on the open sea with its hazards. The conditions can therefore change between each round, it's really very exciting," adds the Frenchman. Furthermore, only two cities have already hosted the competition last year: Jeddah and Monaco, proof of the organizers' attachment to the city. July 2025 will thus mark for this championship a return to its roots on the land where it was born.
