Tennis: Sons and de Minaur eliminated from entry into Dubai

Arthur Fils and Alex de Minaur were eliminated from their first match in the ATP 500 in Dubai on Tuesday.
Skip the adWhile they were among the tournament favourites, Arthur Fils and Alex de Minaur were eliminated as soon as they entered the ATP 500 in Dubai. The Frenchman, seeded number 8, was playing his first match since February 6 and was soundly defeated by the Portuguese Nuno Borges 6-2 6-1. The latter will face Alexander Bublik or Félix Auger-Aliassime. Alex de Minaur, seeded number 2, lost in 3 sets 6-2 3-6 6-3 against the 36-year-old Croatian Marin Cilic who benefits from a protected ranking to enter the draw. Cilic will face the Australian Popyrin in the 8th finals.
In the other matches of the day, Italian Luca Nardi beat Hungarian Marton Fucsovics in 3 sets 1-6 6-2 6-3. Frenchmen Halys, Monfils and Humbert are also on the programme today.
