Tennis: Novak Djokovic announces the end of his collaboration with his coach Andy Murray twelve days before the start of Roland-Garros

The former Scottish player, who left the Serbian's staff on Tuesday, joined him six months ago to help him make even more history by winning his 25th Grand Slam tournament.

Their collaboration only lasted a few months. Serbian Novak Djokovic announced on his X account on Tuesday, May 13, that he was ending his collaboration with Scottish former world number one Andy Murray. "Thank you, coach Andy, for all the hard work, good times, and support over the past six months, on and off the court. I really enjoyed deepening our friendship," Novak Djokovic wrote on his social media.
The latter, however, was effusive about his former rival, considering him "the ideal coach" to go on to win a record 25th Grand Slam tournament. "It's one of the main reasons why I asked Andy to work with me," he even justified at the time. Before Djokovic, Andy Murray had just retired as a player - after the 2024 Paris Olympics - and had therefore never coached.

The two men began their partnership at the beginning of 2025 , after an announcement that caused a lot of noise on the tour and generated a lot of anticipation. Since then, Novak Djokovic has been going through a drought. While he reached the final in Miami and the semi-finals of the Australian Open, a tournament he has won 10 times, the Serb has hardly shone in 2025. He has even lost in his first tournament since the beginning of January, and has still not won a single match on clay.
After his first eliminations in Monte Carlo and Madrid, he decided not to participate in the Rome tournament. Currently ranked 6th in the world, he seems far from being able to win a 25th Grand Slam tournament , his main goal.
