Rugby, National (2nd day): A new status to assume for CA Périgueux?

This Friday, by beating Nice, the contender for promotion to Pro D2, Périgueux achieved a benchmark match and even a small feat. However, there are still 24 matches left.
Don't get carried away. That was the watchword this Friday evening, after the CAP's victory against Nice. A victory achieved thanks to a strong 80-minute fight from the Périgourdins. However, the players interviewed after the match were quite cautious in their words. Did the Capistes achieve a feat? "No, according to second row Raphaël Vieilledent. Yes, Nice is a big team. Afterwards, to say that it's an achievement would be like saying we're a small team, but last year we already beat some big teams, and they're not the first team to fall in Périgueux. So I don't consider it an achievement," he adds. The same goes for center Dorian Lavernhe. "An achievement? I'm not sure. They're expected to be very big, but we played a very good match. "We shouldn't tell ourselves, every time we play this kind of team, that if we win, it's an achievement," says the Capiste.
Périgueux has changed categoryBecause Périgueux now has a status to live up to. After finishing fourth last year, CAP is no longer the promoted team of two seasons ago, the division's outsiders. "We're a good National team and we're in a position. Our status is higher now," assures Dorian Lavernhe.
Thus, the CAP has improved. In the first match against Rennes, the Capistes spread the ball, something we rarely saw last year, and in this match against Nice, Périgueux "didn't doubt in the weak moments," points out Raphaël Vieilledent. And that was the order set by Didier Casadéi. After a strong first half, the Périgourdins were able to resist in the second half, despite being down 13 for a few minutes and the continuous assaults of the Nice team.
Now, we must validate this new status by going to Tarbes on Friday, September 5, with ambitions.
