Puy-de-Dôme: Two dead and one seriously injured in a road accident during a car rally

Two spectators died on Saturday, July 26, while attending the Rallye de la Fourme d'Ambert, which was taking place near Ambert, in the eastern Puy-de-Dôme region, Agence France-Presse learned from the department's prefecture. They were hit by a car that left the road.
A third person, who was also watching the car race, was seriously injured and taken to hospital, the prefecture said, confirming information from Ici Pays d'Auvergne and La Montagne .
As La Montagne recalls, motor racing had already been in mourning last summer . The 42-year-old race steward was killed while intervening after an accident.
According to local media, the accident occurred around 10 a.m. The 7.20-kilometer special race took place on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. between Baffie and Fontlobines, in the commune of Saint-Just.
Several people present at the time of the accident were "shocked" and taken into care. Dozens of police officers and firefighters have been deployed to the scene, Ici Pays d'Auvergne reported, while the prefect is expected to arrive this afternoon for a press briefing. The competition management announced in a statement that it had stopped the race following the accident.
