Loïs Boisson, who caused a sensation at Roland-Garros, qualified in Hamburg for her first WTA final

We have found the Loïs Boisson of Roland-Garros . The Frenchwoman, revelation of the last tournament at the Porte d'Auteuil, will have the opportunity to win her first title on the WTA circuit after her victory in the semi-final of the clay-court tournament in Hamburg, Saturday against the Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska 6-1, 7-6 (7/5).

The 22-year-old Frenchwoman, ranked 63rd in the world and a surprise semi-finalist in Paris in the spring, returned to her best tennis in Germany. She will aim for her first title on the main circuit this Sunday, facing the Hungarian Anna Bondar (77th), who defeated the Slovenian Kaja Juvan (207th) 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.

"It's great for me. Reaching the final is the goal. We'll see tomorrow, I'll try to win," said the Frenchwoman after her victory against Yastremska.

Forgotten is the elimination in the first round of qualifying at Wimbledon, on grass , at the end of June, then the defeat in the second round of the Bastad tournament, on clay, at the beginning of July.

In Hamburg, the Frenchwoman certainly needed three sets 6-4, 6-7 (3/7), 6-4 in the second round and nearly three hours of play to beat Germany's Tamara Korpatsch. But in the quarterfinals, Boisson swept aside Bulgaria's Viktoriya Tomova (105th), 6-3, 6-3, in just under an hour.

The portrait

In the semi-finals this Saturday, the Frenchwoman impressed again in the first set, winning 6-1 in less than half an hour. The second set, however, was more closely fought. Boisson lost her serve and saw her more aggressive opponent claw her back to a 5-5 lead and then drag her into a tiebreak.

In this tiebreak, the Frenchwoman proved more solid, particularly on serve, to earn the right to dream of a first title on Sunday. Whatever happens in the final, Loïs Boisson will be ranked 51st in the WTA rankings on Monday. A victory would allow her to enter the Top 50.

During her sensational run at Roland Garros, her first Grand Slam tournament, Boisson only lost in the semi-finals to the American Coco Gauff, the eventual winner, after eliminating two members of the Top 10.
