Lakers legend accused of sexually abusing 15-year-old girl at school: 'I thought she was 18'

Byron Scott, a legendary member of the Los Angeles Lakers, has been accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old schoolgirl in a school janitor's closet. The attack, revealed exclusively by the Daily Mail, took place in the summer of 1987 at a school in Los Angeles (Campbell Hall School), California.
According to the complaint, which the British media was able to verify, Byron Scott had visited the school during an event with the Lakers.
The complainant, Hayley Dylan, who was 15 at the time of the assault, chose to reveal her identity rather than remain anonymous and accuses Scott of sexual assault, unlawful confinement and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
In the 20-page complaint, Hayley Dylan explains that at the time of the assault, she had "never kissed a boy" and that afterward, "her innocence was shattered and her life changed forever."
Byron Scott, now 64 and married to Anita Scott at the time of the attack (he divorced in 2014), admits to having sexual contact with the young woman, but apologizes, saying he thought Hailey was 18.
"Our client is devastated by this allegation, which arose during an event that took place in 1987. Our client believed the complainant was over 18 and had no idea that she would claim otherwise until 35 years later," Scott's lawyer, Linda Bauermeister, told the Daily Mail.
