Iva Jovic and Emilio Nava receive US wild cards for Roland-Garros

Since Monday, the names of the first two players invited to the main draw of Roland-Garros have been announced: Iva Jovic and Emilio Nava. They are the big winners of the Roland-Garros Wild Card Challenge , organized by the American Federation in recent weeks to issue an invitation to the main draw of the Parisian Grand Slam (May 25 - June 8), as part of a reciprocal agreement between the FFT and the USTA, which reciprocates to a Frenchman at the US Open.
Jovic, 17, ranked 120th in the world, is one of the shining stars of American tennis. The Californian reached the first round of the 2024 US Open and the Australian Open, where she was also invited. She notably won the ITF W100 in Charlottesville at the end of April. Nava, ranked 137th in the world at 23 and a former student at Juan Carlos Ferrero's academy in Villena, Spain, has only one Grand Slam victory, in the first round of Wimbledon 2022. He distinguished himself by winning three Challenger tournaments between mid-March and early April.
Tennis Australia, which also has a reciprocal agreement with the FFT and plans to exchange wild cards between Roland Garros and the Australian Open, has not yet revealed who will receive the two slots. The French Tennis Federation will announce the names of the invitees in a few days. In the women's competition, the candidates include Diane Parry (102nd), Léolia Jeanjean (104th), Chloé Paquet (138th), Elsa Jacquemot (140th), Jessika Ponchet (141st), Selena Janicijevic (203rd), and Tiantsoa Rakotomanga (239th).
In the men's competition, in addition to Richard Gasquet, who will have an invitation to the final tournament of his career , the Swiss Stan Wawrinka (40 years old), finalist of the Aix-en-Provence Challenger on Sunday, could also be there. Otherwise, the invitees could be called Arthur Cazaux (116th), Valentin Royer (117th), Terence Atmane (119th), winner of his second Challenger in three weeks on hard court, Adrian Mannarino (126th), Harold Mayot (144th) or Pierre-Hughes Herbert (148th).
