Golf: La Marterie played golf for autism

On Sunday, July 27, the Périgueux golf course organized a wonderful solidarity day in favor of autism in the relaxing setting of the La Marterie estate.
The Golf Together for Autism association has chosen the La Marterie golf course, on the Route du Bugue, 30 kilometers from Périgueux, for its 2025 competition in the Southwest. On Sunday, July 27, starting at 8 a.m., the competitors, including 17 with an index between 1 and 9, from nine clubs across the Nouvelle-Aquitaine league, were welcomed by Michèle Helly, the association's president, always smiling and sporty. "Autistic or not, we don't care! We'll all be winners today."
La Marterie winsShotgun tee-offs at 9 a.m. for 18 holes of two-person scramble, a format where each pair sets out in search of those famous birdies rarely achieved in singles. With eight birdies and two eagles on their scorecard, the best team from La Marterie, Lorenzo Valbusa, index 5.4 and Jérôme Lorinet, index 11, remained masters at home in gross ahead of their colleagues José Germain/Philippe Caffy.
Net, still from La Marterie, the couples Lelen/Michel Robert and Marc/Odile Courmont (62 pts) narrowly won ahead of two young hopefuls from the department, Marius Lorinet/Néo Valbusa (59 pts). Just behind, with 56 pts, we find the agreements Alain Clauzure, La Marterie/Jean-Christophe Labails, Périgueux (58 pts), Eugène Amengoua, La Marterie/P.-E. Barois, Ch. Les Merles and José Bexiga, La Marterie/J.-F. Chartres, Lolivarie. The team "Nouvelle-Aquitaine league", Alexia Girault, Agen and Monique Persigand, Périgueux, won the women's double trophy ahead of the Périgourdines Sylvie Castanet/Catherine Dorle.
“When I play golf, I forget my difference.”Upon receiving the check for 820 euros donated to the association, Michèle Helly let loose once again alongside her son Vincent, diagnosed with severe autism at the age of 4 and now a student golf instructor in Toulouse. "Thank you all for your exemplary participation today [Editor's note: Sunday, July 27]. This sum will help set up a traveling golf academy for all families affected by autism." Amid applause, Vincent Helly then concluded: "When I play golf, I forget my difference."
