Cleveland Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson named NBA coach of the year

He was one of the favorites and was logically rewarded. Kenny Atkinson (57 years old), head of the Cleveland Cavaliers, was voted NBA Coach of the Year ahead of Ime Udoka (Houston) and JB Bickerstaff (Detroit). In his second experience at the helm of an NBA franchise - after his time with the Brooklyn Nets between 2016 and 2020 -, Atkinson led the Cleveland Cavaliers to the top of the Eastern Conference, with an impressive record of 64 wins for 18 losses (only the Oklahoma City Thunder had a better record during the regular season, with 68 wins and 14 losses).
Between these two experiences, he had the opportunity to gain experience as an assistant, first with the Los Angeles Clippers (2020-2021) then with Golden State (2021-2024) before joining the Ohio franchise.
A well-deserved reward for the man who was Vincent Collet's assistant - also a consultant to the franchise - with the French team during the Olympic adventure, which concluded with a silver medal.
