'When promises are broken...': Alexander Isak explains his Newcastle exit clash

Named in the PFA Awards' Team of the Season on Tuesday evening, Alexander Isak took the opportunity to speak out on social media about the conflict between him and his team.
By Le ParisienAfter several weeks of silence, Alexander Isak spoke out Tuesday evening in an Instagram story about his open conflict with Newcastle. Named in the Team of the Season at the PFA Awards , the Swedish international was not at the ceremony. "With everything that's going on right now, I didn't feel it was appropriate to be there," he admitted.
Having been looking elsewhere since July, the striker is currently stuck at a club he no longer wants. This has generated a lot of controversy. Isak took to Instagram to criticize those who took advantage of his silence to "push their own version of events," which he said "does not reflect what was actually said and agreed upon behind closed doors" with his club.
"The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time," he said. "To act now as if these issues are only just emerging is misleading."

This is a version the player has maintained since the start of the affair in July. The Swede, who had a great season with 23 goals and 6 assists in 34 matches for the Magpies, has never hidden his desire to leave, and his refusal to continue his career with the northern English club. "When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship cannot continue," he condemned.
In early August, Newcastle rejected an offer of around €138 million for their star player. This sum was deemed insufficient despite the stalemate in relations between Isak and his team. "That's why a change is in everyone's interest, not just mine," the striker concluded. At present, only a substantial offer could resolve the situation.
In the meantime, Isak remains off the pitch and is no longer part of the Magpies squad. Worse, he could even be fined for every official absence.
