“Take it day by day”: and now, what awaits Léon Marchand?

After making do with his current abilities for his return to competition in Florida, the four-time Olympic champion will return to his routine to prepare for this summer's World Championships in Singapore. His fitness will determine the rest of his schedule.
By Éric Bruna , special correspondent in Fort Lauderdale (United States)He came. And he saw... After six months away from official times, Léon Marchand didn't really know what to expect for his return to the water at the Fort Lauderdale Pro Swim Series. Now, the four-time Olympic champion knows what to expect. While the US Navy's supersonic jets performed noisy arabesques in a local meet that drew a large crowd to the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, the Toulouse native was much less aerial in the middle of the lanes of the Aquatic Center.
A striking contrast, for example, with the great early form of Katie Ledecky , who once again broke the sound barrier in the 800m, beating the world record for the sixth time (8′04′'12). "I didn't know where I was, now I know," sums up the Tricolore, hardly surprised to have suffered for three days punctuated by two second places (400m medley and 200m medley), a third (400m freestyle) and an unusual eighth (200m freestyle).
