Romans. No, Jean-Michel Gauthier will not run again in the 2026 municipal elections.

Will you run again in 2026?
"No, no, it's final, I'm past the age, there's an age for everything, and then there's family pressure which is quite intense."
What has been the most significant achievement of this current mandate?
"The major achievement is the Countess of Dormy housing estate. This housing estate in the heart of the village with 25 houses, and welcoming 75 inhabitants, kept us busy during my first term and this one. This term saw the creation of the Friday market, where the village greengrocer opens his stalls to the population of Romans, which attracts people from the surrounding communes. We also participated in the creation of the butcher's shop, the work on which begins today and should be completed in a year. During the previous term, a bakery relay was set up."
“We are working to find consistency in everything.”How did this mandate go?
"Pretty good, we don't have any particular problems. We're working to find consistency in everything and to give everyone the greatest satisfaction, knowing that we have two types of population: those who live in the town and the people who work there, mainly farmers. With their difficulties, I'm thinking of changes in cultures, habits, and global warming. We also have a large equine population, with an activity mainly focused on leisure. All of this coexists well. We don't have recurring incivility, we don't have destruction, we have a peaceful population, who are here for the tranquility of the place."
Is there a new generation in the making?
"I don't feel it, no one is asking my opinion. There's no strong pressure to take the position. It's been a year, maybe two years, since I announced my decision to the council."
A quick word about the community of communes?
"At our level, we're not getting the most out of what the community of communes has to offer. We feel a bit isolated; we don't have the impression that everything is being done for medium-sized municipalities. A resident of Romans can't say that the community of communes has brought them anything, apart from their household waste bill."
