Retailleau Victory and the End of Wauquism? We Debrief the Republicans' Far-Right Congress

The right has its new leader. This Sunday, May 18, after a vote by 97,736 members of the Republicans (LR), Bruno Retailleau was elected party president. With 74.3% of the vote, the Minister of the Interior was well ahead of Laurent Wauquiez (25.6%), MP for Haute-Loire. He succeeds Eric Ciotti, who left his post vacant after deciding to join forces with the National Rally during the last legislative elections. As soon as the results were announced, the unsuccessful candidate nevertheless warned the winner: "We must unite the entire right and champion a breakthrough project." A victory with what lessons? We take a look at the results with Anthony Cortes, political journalist, and Raphaël Godechot.
