Lyon: 6th arrondissement mayor Pascal Blache could extend his retirement

Since May, the mayor of Lyon's 6th arrondissement, Pascal Blache, has withdrawn from political life. His return is expected to be postponed.
" Tired ," the mayor of the 6th arrondissement, Pascal Blache (Horizons), announced on May 15 that he was " withdrawing from political life for three months." " I need a break ," he justified. But as his return to the district's mayoralty approaches, scheduled for August 15, our colleagues at Tribune de Lyon have learned that the deadline will not come before October.
His first deputy, Christian Termoz-Mazan (LR), who is acting as interim mayor, is expected to be given a two-month extension as head of the 6th arrondissement. No official reason has been given so far, but health concerns have reportedly been mentioned by his entourage.
By opting to step down rather than resign, the elected official continues to receive his allowances as borough mayor, municipal councilor, and metropolitan councilor. According to our colleagues, the question of his succession is also at the center of discussions. In May, Pascal Blache hinted that he would not seek reelection in 2026.
