Le Creusot. Le Creusot - 2026 Municipal Elections: Declaration of Candidacy by Didier Laubérat (press release)

“It’s time to make a real change.”
It was for professional reasons that I arrived in Le Creusot almost 30 years ago. Over the years, I have come to know and love this town, its territory and, above all, its inhabitants. At the same time, I have learned about community management through the mandates I hold: mayor of Marmagne since 2008, community councilor since 2014, I was also elected departmental councilor of Saône-et-Loire in 2021. I have developed experience and acquired in-depth knowledge of how communities operate, without ever being politically involved. I now wish to put these skills to the service of the town that welcomed me.
Unfortunately, the town of Le Creusot, which adopted me, is showing signs of decline and experiencing a form of impoverishment. This worrying situation cannot continue. It therefore calls for a clean break.
Neither the current mayor nor his main opponent have demonstrated their ability to meet the challenges ahead. It is in this context that, accompanied by a team, I plan to run in the election scheduled for March 15 and 22, 2026.
And yet this city that we love has tremendous assets! Its industrial power after its reconstruction, a TGV station and a road network that shorten distances, a university site that attracts young people, and above all an extraordinary collective will that the city and its inhabitants have been able to demonstrate, particularly during the 1984 crisis. This strength still exists!
So, let's not be resigned! A collective that includes women and men from the left, the right, with environmental leanings or no partisan bias, excluding extremes in a republican spirit, is ready to contribute and forge a future for our city. We must make a series of breaks with current orientations and practices.
With this broad gathering, and with confidence in the action of municipal agents, within the framework of an Urban Community at the service of the municipalities - and not the other way around - the action to which I aspire will no longer be that of a single man but will be part of a collective and shared approach, to give back to the Creusotines and the Creusotins the pride they deserve.
We will break with the current vertical approach. The method will be collaborative, participatory, and therefore effective. We must be bold in terms of solidarity, trust our local public services, and value the skills of those who bring our city to life on a daily basis.
So you will have understood that our assets are real and our strengths can be mobilized. We now need a collective that lives up to these ambitions, a team capable of initiating the necessary change to give our city real appeal and the dynamism it deserves.
This is the commitment that is being made today.
This is the break that I propose you build!
Didier LAUBÉRAT
