Haute-Savoie. François Astorg will not run for mayor of Annecy.

François Astorg chose the national media outlet Le Monde to announce that he would not be seeking a new term as mayor of Annecy, in an article published online on May 16. The information had already been leaked on Wednesday, May 14. When contacted by us, the person concerned cut short, saying he "did not comment."
However, relatives confirmed his decision off the record, adding that the Green Party representative (not a party member) had dealt the exclusion of the announcement to a national media outlet.
In political circles, his state of "fatigue" related to the position had been noted, an observer told us. And the next step was already being prepared. Leaders of the Green Party are meeting locally today. A coincidence? Hard to believe, even if the elected official was no longer a member of the party, he was one of the "Green" mayors who managed to win a city in the last elections.
Alexandre Mulatier-Gachet candidate?Within Réveillon Annecy, it's an open secret that Alexandre Mulatier-Gachet's name is circulating as a candidate. He hasn't declared himself, and he won't unite the entire left, particularly within the LFI party. Whether the end of the Astorg era will also bring the Réveillons Annecy party to a close is still unclear. But voices are already being raised to say that the party has had its day and that another chapter must be written.
