Geville. A new square inaugurated in tribute to André Raulin

The square in the heart of Jouy-sous-les-Côtes now bears the name André Raulin. A ceremony was held by the town of Geville, one year to the day after his death, to commemorate his commitment to the town's villages.
This Friday, June 13, the town of Géville inaugurated Place André-Raulin in Jouy-sous-les-Côtes. It was a way to pay tribute to André Raulin, known as "Dédé," a former municipal councilor and a prominent figure in the life of the villages of Jouy-sous-les-Côtes, Corniéville, and Gironville-sous-les-Côtes, which form the town of Géville.
The ceremony was held in the presence of Mayor Pierre Brasseur, two flag bearers and many residents.
The mayor recalled that the development of this square was part of a project to improve the urban environment: "This square is the result of a rehabilitation operation. It replaced a ruined house, demolished in 2016. The work was spread out from 2017 to 2023. The objective was to make Rue du Château safer, to beautify the village center and to offer villagers a space to relax and play pétanque."
Pierre Brasseur also spoke about the volunteer work of André Raulin, who passed away a year ago, for some fifteen years: "In 2014, I encouraged him to join the municipality. Elected and then re-elected for two terms, he passionately invested himself in municipal projects, particularly in monitoring construction sites and coordinating with workers. He was appreciated for his discretion, generosity, and rigor."
The tribute ceremony concluded with a friendly moment.
Three new squares have been created in the commune of Géville, one in each village. They were built over the same time periods and for the same reasons. In Corniéville and Gironville, they are larger and also allow for parking and hosting various gatherings, such as the funfair, the flea market, and the neighborhood party.
All three were built by volunteers. Here, the first of them was Dédé.
