Corruption scandal rocks Javier Milei during election campaign

Audio recordings revealed by a local Argentinian media outlet suggest the involvement of Javier Milei's sister and people close to the president in an alleged corruption network linked to the pharmaceutical sector. This case, which comes in the middle of a legislative campaign, could be "the most compromising" ever for an Argentinian president.
“The worst week since he came to power.” For just a few days now, Javier Milei and his government have been at the heart of an unprecedented scandal, widely reported by the Argentine and international press.
It all began on Tuesday, August 19, when local media outlet DataClave revealed a series of damning audio recordings in which the alleged voice of Diego Spagnuolo, then director of the National Agency for Disability (Andis), and former lawyer to the president, can be heard discussing an alleged corruption scheme involving people close to the libertarian head of state.
These recordings, summarizes La Nación , cite in particular Eduardo “Lule” Menem, presidential advisor and presented as the architect of the device, as well as Karina Milei , the secretary to the presidency and sister of the president.
In these recordings, Spagnuolo describes a mechanism in which pharmaceutical companies and suppliers were forced to pay 8% in overcharging and commissions in exchange for public contracts for the purchase of medicines. These illicit transactions would have generated up to 800,000 dollars (approximately 683,920 euros) per month, part of which would have benefited Spagnuolo himself and Karina Milei, reports El País América .
