2026 Municipal Elections: He launches a petition to unite the left and hope to win Nice against Estrosi and Ciotti

What if the winner of the Estrosi-Ciotti battle was... the left? While the MP has just declared his candidacy, on March 15 and 22, in an attempt to win the mayor's seat, a petition is calling on left-wing forces to take advantage of the situation.
How? By uniting, on the one hand, the Greens, the Socialist Party and the Communist Party, and on the other, a "collective" including La France Insoumise (LFI), members of ViVA! and the Communist Alternative.
To encourage them to come to an agreement, the Nice actor Jonathan Gensburger, a member of the CGT spectacle union, launched a petition a few days ago on the Change.org platform entitled: "Fully united, the left can win in Nice in 2026!"
So far, just over 200 people, including Roya farmer and activist Cedric Herrou, have signed his appeal.
"A New Popular Front in Nice"
"There is a left in Nice: parties, groups, men and women. This left, or rather these lefts, are today divided and struggling to agree. Who started? Who responded? Who didn't respond? It doesn't matter. The stakes are immense, the opportunity too good to miss. A third way is within reach of a vote. The programmatic aspect is not really the problem, it is more a question of ego, party lines or old grudges," writes the 45-year-old actor, dreaming aloud of a "New Popular Front for Nice."
Question of strategy
The question of strategy remains: is it not more appropriate for the progressive forces to present two lists in the hope of a three-way race in the second round ?
"A joint list in the first round, in terms of symbolism and dynamics, is not the same," retorts the actor, who speaks of a "historic opportunity that may not come again any time soon."
On Saturday, LFI also launched a call for a rally of left-wing forces , setting its conditions on the program and structure of the list.
A call to which the other "clan" (PS, PCF, Ecologists) responds with an... outstretched hand "without red lines and with respect for all sensitivities."
*To stay in office, you must obtain 10% of the votes cast in the first round.
