“Calm and focused”: how the “imperturbable” Édouard Philippe is preparing for 2027

During his "congress" this Saturday in Marseille, the former Prime Minister spoke to our newspaper. Unaffected by political upheavals, the presidential candidate, the poll favorite, is unfolding his plan.
By Thomas Soulié , special correspondent in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône)"Fuck, two years!": on the terrace of his Marseille hotel overlooking the Corniche, Édouard Philippe reprises the Guignols gimmick, imitating Jacques Chirac. For these two years before the presidential election, the declared candidate has his plan, his timetable and nothing, he promises, will make him deviate. On the eve of his third "interregional congress" in the Phocaean city , the man who is leading the polls appears relaxed, in jeans and loafers, in contrast to the din of current political events.
"Preparing for the exercise of power requires calm and concentration," he told our newspaper. "He is imperturbable, he is the quiet force," smiles his supporter Arnaud Robinet, mayor of Reims , referring to François Mitterrand's 1981 campaign slogan... and hoping for the same outcome for his boss. "He ignores the headwinds," confirms a close friend, and charts his course without looking to the side.
