Erstein. Organ donation: they broke the French record for the longest green ribbon

This Saturday, October 18, 357 people came to hold a long green ribbon in support of organ donation in Erstein, thus breaking the French record for the longest human green ribbon.
Marc Forster, who initiated this mobilization, was deeply moved. "I don't know what to say. It's fantastic." With his partner Laetitia Collet, they came up with the idea for this demonstration in memory of their son Luc, who died in an accident in 2020. His organs were harvested after his death, allowing other people to be saved. Since then, they have campaigned for organ donation.
"It's extremely important to talk about it with those around you," Marc Forster reminds us. In France, the organ donation refusal rate is 40%, often because the deceased's wishes were not clearly communicated. "We have the right not to want to be a donor. But we have to say so! Otherwise, it's the loved ones who are in trouble, even though they are already devastated by the loss of a loved one."
“The record is one thing, but the most important thing is to raise awareness,” recalls Laetitia Collet.
