"We are not ashamed of this model of solidarity health": the CFDT and CGT unions of Lenval defend "their working tool"

"I love Lenval," chanted nearly 120 people gathered in front of the Foundation's building on Avenue de la Californie on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Caregivers, non-caregivers, patients, and even members of the board of directors responded to the call from the CFDT (French Trade Union Confederation) - the majority union within the establishment - and the CGT (French General Confederation of Labor). This second meeting resonates as a clarification in light of the five organized in recent weeks by other unions.

"We are here to put an end to the rumors that are circulating; to the threats that some are making against the Lenval Foundation and to the challenges to our professional dignity ," asserts Dr. Fabienne Dulieu, CFDT representative. "We want to continue working together with the staff at the CHU. But we affirm that if the hospital were to take over Lenval, it would be very detrimental. Firstly because we would lose the support professions, that is to say nearly 150 people who risk unemployment. But also because if the Foundation loses its hospital, it would put all its medical-social centers in difficulty."

"There may be disagreements between the unions and management, but we must not throw the baby out with the bathwater ," says Pierre-Yves Navarre, secretary of the CSE and CFDT Lenval delegate. "We have already put things in place and made progress on issues thanks to dialogue. We must not forget that. And if we wanted to come together, it was also to protest against attacks from people outside the establishment. We want to keep our working tool. We are happy to work here, some of us for 40 years. We are not ashamed of this model of solidarity-based healthcare, in which we believe."
