Unemployment: the ordeal of senior job seekers
The unemployment rate in France increased by 0.1 percentage points in the first quarter of 2025, to 7.4%, according to INSEE. The unemployment rate for seniors aged 50 and over remained stable at 4.7% over the quarter, down 0.3 percentage points year-on-year. However, the proportion of unemployed seniors could explode, according to the CGT (General Confederation of Labour).
